Cultural diversity brings both challenges and opportunities. In most cases, the challenges come first; the benefits come when people from diverse cultures have learned to work with and trust one another. They can then come up with innovative solutions because they look at the same problems from different angles.

This one-day workshop will help employers, managers, business owners and HR professionals:

  • Understand the impact of culture on people’s thought processes and behaviours
  • Differentiate between stereotypes and generalizations
  • Analyze the challenges that cultural differences create throughout the talent management cycle
  • Determine which best practices are most likely to help their organizations take their cross-cultural effectiveness to the next level
  • Identify strategies they can bring to their organizations to develop the cultural dexterity and enhance the engagement of their employees

Using insightful presentations combined with exercises, case studies, role plays and group discussions, this workshop compares the way employees from diverse cultures were taught to think and communicate in their home countries to the way Canadians are taught to think and communicate. Participants learn and discuss best practices to help their organizations form a new inclusive culture, which becomes a competitive advantage for their organization to achieve better business results.

Lionel Laroche

Over the past 18 years, Lionel Laroche has provided cross-cultural training, coaching and consulting services to over 60,000 people in 15 countries. Lionel specializes in helping professionals and organizations reap the benefits of cultural differences in their work. His client list includes many Fortune 500 organizations in Canada, the US and overseas.

Lionel is a thought-provoking, informative and entertaining workshop facilitator who presented at over 250 conferences and venues, including many Human Resources conferences (SAHRP, HRMAM, HRIA, HRPA, SHRM, CSTD, etc.). He is the author of over 100 publications examining the impact of cultural differences on organizations in general and human resources in particular.

Born in France, Lionel obtained his “Diplôme d’Ingénieur Polytechnicien” from the Ecole Polytechnique de Paris, France and his Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, USA
